Original Farmers' Market

The Original Farmers’ Market

Perfectly situated in the heart of the Midwest, Indianapolis is ripe with farmers offering outstanding produce, dairy products, meats and more!

And the Original Farmers’ Market brings them straight to you at the Indianapolis City Market. From fruits and vegetables and meats and cheeses, to baked goods and unique spices and herbs, you can find in-season, fresh foods that have been selected at their peak. As you fill your basket with good-tasting, healthy foods, you’ll support the local growers dedicated to providing you with the freshest foods available.

Regular applications are now closed. You can still apply for the waitlist or be a pop-up vendor.

The Original Farmers’ Market runs every Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., May through October. Due to construction, it is located on Market Street, one block east of City Market, in between Whole Foods and Cummins.

Programs and Activities

Buy 2 Give 1, a food gleaning program administered through the Original Farmers’ Market, encourages individuals to buy additional products for those who are in need of fresh, healthy products. All of the donations are made at the City Market tent during the Original Farmers’ Market hours, and are given to one of three downtown homeless missions to prepare healthy meals for those in need. Each year, thousands of pounds of produce are given to those who need it most through the program. In fact, about 3,000 lbs of fresh Indiana-grown produce was gleaned throughout the 2018 Original Farmers’ Market season.
