About the Market
Founded to bring Indiana’s finest local foods to the heart of downtown Indianapolis, the Original Farmers’ Market celebrates the rich agricultural heritage of the Midwest while supporting our community. Each week, we connect local farmers, bakers, artisans, and producers directly with visitors, offering fresh, in-season foods at their peak. Our market values sustainability, accessibility, and community engagement—providing opportunities for nonprofits, advocacy groups, and educational initiatives to share their mission with thousands of guests. With programs like Fresh Bucks, we make it easier for everyone to access healthy, local foods while supporting the growers who make it all possible.
The Original Farmers Market has traditionally been held in front of the historic City Market Market House. While renovations to the Market House and Plaza are underway, the market will continue to take place on Historic Monument Circle for its third consecutive year. This temporary location allows us to remain in the heart of downtown Indianapolis while the City Market undergoes exciting improvements, and the market will return to the Market House Plaza upon completion of the renovations.
